Hewlett Packard to enter data warehousingThe$42.9-billion Hewlett Packard Company is entering the data warehouse market in India with new products and services. The company has drawn up an aggressive strategy to capitalise on this hitherto unexplored market in the sub-continent. Solutions marketing manager David Kelleher said the company would focus on the financial-services sector to offer its services.

Launch of new models of soft luggage by VIP: Blowplast has launched Icon Gold, a new product in the soft luggage category under its VIP Skybags brand. Icon Goldoffers a three digit combination lock and high-impact polymer skid plates at the bottom for dragging the luggage over uneven surfaces. It comes in four sizes of suitcases and one tote in colours black and green. The product is priced in the range of Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,400. The product was launched in Mumbai and Delhi, and will be available in the other major metros in two months.
Lakme launches pH balanced face-wash: Lakme Lever has announced the launch of Lakme pH balanced face-wash. The product is said to wash away impurities while maintaining the skin's natural moisture oil-balance. A 100 gms tube of Lakme pH face-wash is priced at Rs 37, and a 50 grams tube for Rs 22.
Summer 98 collection by Lerros: The European leisure wear major Lerros has introduced the Summer '98 international range in Mumbai. Styles to choose from include polos, V-necks, and V-necks with collar in a superior pique fabric, yarn dyed polos, half- zipper T-shirts and crew-necks in cool summer shades. Lerros alsopresents a new collection in wrinkle-free 100 per cent cotton trousers in a wide range of colours. Pricing of shirts is Rs 475 upwards, T-shirts Rs 195 upwards, trousers Rs 695 up and wrinkle free trousers from Rs 1,095.

Thermal Ink Jet Imaging material: Birla 3M and Hewlett-Packard have entered into a strategic alliance to market Birla 3M's Thermal Ink Jet (TIJ) imaging media along with HP DesignJet CP Printers. The technology will be showcased in Chennai on May 27. The combined effort will address the needs of the graphic market for backlit and frontlit hoardings, banners, posters and in-shop displays. The technology can produce 36 or 54 inches wide graphics at resolutions up to 600dpi. The comprehensive approach allows the HP printer to become 3M Certified Fabricators. The products are covered by the Matched Component System Warranty providing protection against environmental attacks.
Score at Soccer'98 with Master Card: Mater Card International is a principal sponsor of the Soccer World Cup `98 event to be held in France. MasterCard has launched a Score with Master Card contest for its cardholders who have been issued cards from any of the 23 participating banks. The cardholders are entitled to privileges ranging from free air tickets to Paris for the World Cup to special offers on purchases from Mobilink pagers, Canon cameras and Shoppers' Stop. To be eligible for participation in the contest, the cardholder must use his card for more than eight times during the contest period - May 15 to July 15. There are over 750 attractive prizes on offer.
