Available: A fine tool for infrastructure funding
The core sector is in the centre of attention these days because of the dire need to put in place a large number of infrastructure facilities. The funds' requirement is immense. The requirement is so large that no one source can possibly meet it. While power and roads are pressing requirements, urban infrastructure is a crying need. If the government has to look at various sources and avenues to raise money, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) is one source that can possibly meet a good portion of financing, especially for urban infrastructure.

Singing for rain
The forecast of a normal and timely south-west monsoon holds the prospect of a good kharif, which accounts for a little over a half of the annual foodgrain output, principally rice and coarse cereals. Fingers will be kept crossed that the normal rainfall expected this year will be spread evenly across the country's 35 meteorological divisions. Even with a normal rainfall, computed on the basis of countrywide average, a fifth of the districts may receive below normal rainfall.

Manugraph Ind tastes success
The annual results from Manugraph Industries are better than expected. Net profits are Rs 2.53 crore against Rs 1.9 crore in the previous year. What was even better was the fact that the second half of the year was substantially better on almost all growth and return parameters. This was expected, not simply because the company in the normal course of the business does better in the second half, but also due to the restructuring that was undertaken by the management team.
