Gateway launches new consumer sale programme
Gateway Inc, a direct seller of personal computers, said it is offering a new payment plan for PC purchases, including a trade-in option at the end of the two-year programme. The programme allows customers to choose customized equipment, but with no down payment and monthly payments starting at $49.95. It also includes unlimited Internet access for customers choosing Gateway's Internet access service.
World car sales seen falling 4%
The world car market has slumped into recession, with 1998 sales expected to slide by 4% to 34.7 million units, a report from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) said. The EIU report said the slump was a result of economic collapse in Asian economies as well as the deepening Japanese recession and a slowdown in Brazil.
Dhirubhai Ambani selected for Wharton School Dean's Medal
Reliance Industries founder and chairman Dhirubhai Ambani is being awarded the prestigious Wharton School's Dean's Medal (University of Pennsylvania). Ambani will be the 24th recipient of the award, to be presented in Mumbai on June 15. The Dean's Medal award is the school's highest tribute for extraordinary achievement or service by individuals throughout the world.
