BPCL may offer ONGC stake in UP refinery
The state-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) is exploring the option of teaming up with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the Uttar Pradesh refinery, consequent to Shell's probable withdrawal from the project. Shell's chances of participating in the plan "could be safely ruled out" as it has already indicated that it will be tying up with Saudi Aramco instead in a 25:25 downstream venture.
VSNL shortlists 3 bidders for regional hub
The Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) has shortlisted bids of Cable & Wireless, British Telecommunications-MCI and Global One for its proposed $500-million regional hub. The three were shortlisted from a total of seven bidders. The hub plans to route all international telephone traffic originating from the south Asian region.
McKinsey report not to be sole guide for Tata group recast
The McKinsey report, much-quoted as the task-list for the Tata group's restructuring, will be treated as just a starting point for recast, rather than as a bible, according to the Tata group. The recast process is instead expected to come through with an elaborate process of discussions, feedback and interactions with the participating group companies.
