Yashwant Sinha's announcement of a 8% non-modvatable duty will have a negative impact on toilet soap prices which consume industrial oil as raw material. This is likely to have an inflationary impact on toilet soaps. The cost is expected to be partly passed down to the consumer, while the balance would be absorbed by manufacturers.

Petrol price increase will prove costly for mid-size car segment
The budget has ensured that there will be no check to the rapid dieselisation of the automobile sector. Petrol will be dearer by Re 1 per litre and if the increased excise duty is passed on to the consumer, it would translate into an overall increase of Rs 1.50 per litre.
