A W Khan is new VC of IGNOU

Dr Abdul W Khan, an internationally recognised expert in media, development communication and distance education, has taken over as vice chancellor of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Khan was the principal communication specialist with the Commonwealth of Learning (CoL), Vancouver and held the post of director of communications division in IGNOU.He has held number of senior positions with international development agencies, including the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA).

A post graduate in agricultural science journalism from the Wisconsin University, Khan was instrumental in establishing an agricultural communication centre at the G B Pant University of agriculture in Pantnagar. He had also served as director of farm and home broadcasts at All India Radio (AIR) and is credited with initiating broadcastseveral innovative programmes like farm school on the AIR.

R D Tyagi joins Zee Network

R D Tyagi, a high-profile former Greater Mumbai commissioner of police has joined Zee Network as security and legal advisor. His main responsibility in this assignment will be the protection of the company's intellectual property rights (IPR) and other copyrights, especially pertaining to the business of Zee Cinema, Zee Music and Siticable. Tyagi will also represent Zee Network at the intellectual and professional fora on relating industry issues. Tyagi earlier retired as the Director General, National Security Guard. He was superintendent of police in charge of the CBI unit, Mumbai from 1977 to 1981. He was also twice commissioner of police, Thane.

Kelkar is first lady GM, Bank of Baroda

Seema S Kelkar holds the distinction of becoming the first lady general manager of Bank of Baroda. Kelkar joined the bank in 1962 and has worked at various places in different capacities. She was working as deputygeneral manager (inspection and audit) prior to her promotion as general manager.

Promotion for B V Deenadayalu

B V Deenadayalu is promoted as general manager of Bank of Baroda. Prior to this, he was working as deputy general manager (special accounts) at the central office of the bank. He joined the bank in 1964.

D S R Murthy in Durban

D S R Murthy is appointed as Chief Executive Officer at the Durban office of Bank of Baroda. He joined the bank in 1960.
