Kinetic Engineering's dream plan to produce a "people's car" at an affordable price of Rs 1.25 lakh is unlikely to come true unless the union government relents on concessions sought by the company.
CIL bails out Eastern Coalfield from BIFR net
Eastern Coalfield Ltd (ECL) has come out of BIFR net with the holding PSU, Coal India Ltd (CIL) coming to its rescue once again. At the first hearing two days ago, the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) dismissed ECL's case as "non-maintainable" under Section 17 (a) of the Sick Industrial Companies (Special Provisions) Act, upon the company's request.
M&M steps up utility vehicles' price
Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a price hike ranging between Rs 11,200 and Rs 16,800 on its multi-utility vehicles, effective from Thursday. The upward revision in prices takes into account the changes in the excise-duty rates. The Armada is now dearer by Rs 13,497, the Commander by Rs 11,210 and the Mahindra Voyager (non-airconditioned) by Rs 16,775.
