On the menu: Turning waiters into a super-savvy sales force
Clearly, the long knives are out in the local kitchens of the transnational restaurant chains. And, from Pizza PizzaExpress to TGIF to even the mid-scale Pizza Hut, it's not the brand, but the billboys -- call them waiters, dub-dubs (TGIF), stewards (PizzaExpress) or crew members (Pizza Hut) -- who are bringing home the bacon.
Transport operators apprehensive as highway robberies spurts
Transporters seem to be fighting a losing battle with highway robberies and thefts reaching alarming proportions over the past six months. This also includes pilfering of life-saving drugs of companies like Glaxo, Cipla and Pfizer.
Rain douses southern Mexico, misses parched North
Weather forecasters claimed that a spattering of rains in recent days have drawn long-awaited moisture to Mexico's parched South and central states, but have denied relief to the North, the hardest hit by drought. They further added rains in recent days have doused southern Mexico and Central America, initiating a rainy season that looks to come about a month and a half later than usual because of the El Nino weather phenomenon.
