Opposition asks Bakht to resign

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, June 9: Opposition parties on Tuesday demanded resignation of industry minister Sikander Bakht for "the clandestine and corrupt" deal with Suzuki on the Maruti issue and sought an explanation from the government for "unholy haste" in signing the agreement.

Alleging that the deal was struck without the knowledge of the Union cabinet, law ministry and department of heavy industry, a group of MPs from various parties told newsmen here that the agreement entered on Saturday was a blatant violation of the original agreement signed between Suzuki and the government in 1982.
