NBC to register "Must see TV" slogan

New York, June 9: NBC, the broadcasting division of General Electric is preparing to announce this week that it is trademarking the ``Must See TV'' slogan and license it for use on dozens of new products, the electronic edition of the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. According to executives with NBC, the Wall Street Journal wrote that the broadcaster had signed up three licensing partners to make the merchandise and has signed a deal with the JC Penney Co Inc to distribute the products as early as this fall.NBC is not trade-marking the word ``must,'' the paper wrote, rather the slogan and a logo that would appear on labels and hang-tags of the licensed merchandise. ``The additional exposure... can't be a bad think,'' NBC's executive vice- president of advertising and promotion, John Miller who helped come up with the slogan, was quoted as saying. NBC hopes the popular broadcast marketing slogan will help push sales of ``Must Saw Logs'' sheets, ``Must Char Dogs'' barbecue equipment, and ``Must HogSofa'' dog collars.
