Delhi chemicals exhibit mixed tendency

The Delhi chemicals market displayed a mixed tendency during last week. Titanium dioxide K brand, TTK, RC-822, TR-92 and Dupont recorded a gain of Rs 1/2 at Rs 87, Rs 92, Rs 125, Rs 132 and Rs 138 a kg respectively due to paucity of ready stock coupled with good demand from plastic and paint units. China titanium dioxide revealed a firm tendency at Rs 82 a kg. Most of the imported chemicals items turned bullish because of rising dollar in the forex. Zinc oxide firmed up by Rs 3/13 at Rs 65/80 a kg because of firm raw material prices. Import being costly, consequently, phenol edged up by Rs 3 at Rs 55 a kg and naphthalene balls recorded a sharp spurt of Rs 100 at Rs 1,900/2,000 per 50 kg because of higher prices quoted by the manufacturers. Calcium carbonate recorded a sharp rise of Rs 200/2,000 at Rs 3,000/10,000 a tonnes amidst tight supply position coupled with strong demand from consuming industries. Camphor slab and powder marked up by Rs 5/8 at Rs 140 and Rs 128 a kg respectively due to hike in pricesby the manufacturers. Sodium silicate firm up by Rs 100 at Rs 600/700 a quintal due to short supply as most of the units were closed due to pollution.Menthol flakes and bold held steady at Rs 475 and Rs 510 a kg respectively and mentha oil, having dipped to Rs 335 from Rs 350 recovered to Rs 340, still showing a loss of Rs 10 a kg. DMO looked up by Rs 5 at Rs 110 and thymol firmed up by Rs 5 at Rs 325 a kg due to restricted supply. Supply line was totally shattered because cyclone in Gujarat, consequently, sodium bicarbonate recorded a gain of Rs 10/15 at Rs 610/630 per bag while soda ash and caustic soda flakes slipped by Rs 5/15 at Rs 835/860 and Rs 710/725 per bag respectively due to slack demand from consuming industries. Citric acid China and Bharat Starch recorded a sharp rise of Rs 100/200 at Rs 3,850 and Rs 3,750 per 50 kg respectively amidst tight supply position coupled with good demand from cold-drink units. Borax crystal flared up by Rs 50/100 at Rs 1,550/1,600 per 50 kg amid tight supplyposition and borax granular and boric acid technical ruled firm at Rs 1,550 and Rs 2,500 per 40 kg respectively. Sodium nitrite shot up by Rs 100 at Rs 1,300/1,350 per 50 kg due to paucity of ready stock coupled with good demand while sodium hydro sulphite kalali and safolite slipped by Rs 1/2 at Rs 61 and Rs 71 a kg respectively due to poor offtake.
