MUMBAI, June 15: Prices flared up all-round on the oilseeds and oils market here today. Castorseeds futures ruled firmer.Among edible oils, groundnut oil shot up sharply owing to poor supplies for the lean season period as against good local demand. Imported palm oil also shot up due to increased local buying as against paucity of stocks.
Groundnuts ruled steady.
In the industrial sector, castorseeds and its oil rose moderately on renewed enquiries from shippers and soap manufacturers. Linseed oil flared up owing to heavy inquiries from the paint industry. In the futures market, castorseeds September opened higher at Rs 1410 on overnight buying and advanced further to a high of Rs 1413 on sustained bull support. Later, prices reacted on profit-taking and closed at Rs 1410.50, still showing a rise of Rs 6 over the last close of Rs 1404.50.
Groundnut oil shot up to Rs 466 from Rs 462. Palm oil rose sharply to Rs 390 from Rs 383. Groundnuts ruled steady at Rs 2020. Linseed oil flared up to Rs 440from Rs 435. Linseeds ready was quiet at Rs 1450. Castor oil commercial hardened to Rs 308 from Rs 306. Castorseeds ready Madras moved up to Rs 1382 from Rs 1373 previously. Bullion firms up Both the precious metals, silver and gold, firmed up on the bullion market here today. Silver improved on scattered demand from industrial units and supported by higher overseas advices. However, raw silver declined due to increased supplies.
Silver ready .999 fineness firmed up to Rs 7685 and tenderable silver to Rs 7690 from the previous close of Rs 7670 and Rs 7675 respectively. Raw silver .916 fineness declined to Rs 7535 from the last close of Rs 7545.
Gold prices moved up marginally on stray buying interest. Standard gold edged up to Rs 4155 from Rs 4150. 22-carat gold was nominally quoted higher at Rs 3845 from Rs 3840. Ten-tola gold bar .999 purity went up by Rs 100 to Rs 48,800 from the previous close of Rs 48,700. Gujarat cottons gainA steady-to-firm trend was noticed on the cotton market.
Gujarat cottonnetted fresh gains of Rs 100 to 200 a candy on reserved selling. V-797 were up at Rs 15,900-16,200, Morbi wagad at Rs 15,600 and kala-ginned at Rs 15,200-15,300 spot. Sanker ruled in the range of Rs 17,500-22,500.
Punjab cottons held steady. J-34 saw-ginned good average were mentioned at 2050-2150 and cart-selected at Rs 2200-2250 a maund. Bengal Deshi were placed at Rs 1620-1660.
Milling wheat improves
Milling wheat price registered fresh firmness on the grains market. Elsewhere, a steady condition prevailed.
On sustained roller-flour mill demand coupled with limited supply, milling wheat price was further up by Rs 10 a quintal at Rs 635-641. Saurashtra Lokvan and SW were traded at Rs 655-750 and at Rs 750-1000 respectively. MP 147 were quoted at Rs 750-1100 and Sarbati in range of Rs 900-1400. Rice SLO ruled at Rs 1000-1075, Karnataka BT at Rs 1000-1100, Punjab Sarbati at Rs 1000-2000 and Tericot at Rs 1700-1800.
Among pulses, green peas USA at Rs 1675-1700, Canadian at Rs 1235, tur Myanmar1998 at Rs 1900 and 1997 at Rs 1800 were well-held in line with weak rupee against dollar. Urad Myanmar were placed at Rs 1211-1221.
Australian gram were on offer at Rs 1050-1100. Kabuli gram A-2 Mexican at Rs 3000, Iranian at Rs 2500-2800, B-2 at Rs 2300-2400 and C-2 at Rs 1550 were unchanged.
Sugar edges up
A steady-to-marginally better trend was noticed on the sugar market as the demand was moderately good.
M-30 were placed at Rs 1470-1520 and S-30 at Rs 1455-1475 a quintal ex-godown. Ex-octroi checkpost, the former were traded at Rs 1455-1465 and the latter at Rs 1435-1445.
Tenders for the current fortnight have commenced. M-30 were indicated at Rs 1420-1425 and S-30 at Rs 1405-1410 in Kolhapur line.
Pakistani sugar superior and average continued to be traded at Rs 1430 and at Rs 1425 respectively.
Yarn subdued A subdued undertone prevailed on the yarn market following sluggish demand and liquidity crunch.
Polyester yarn grey first quality of medium-sized units 80dn rotoset ruled atRs 85-86, micro rotoset at Rs 95-96, weft at Rs 78-80 and warp at Rs 90-92 a kg. 80/1000dn and 80/1400dn were indicated at Rs 115 and at Rs 120 respectively.
In the case of 150dn, weft and warp were on offer at Rs 70 and at Rs 81-82 respectively. Single rotoset ruled at Rs 72-73 and double rotoset at Rs 74-75.
