Cisco Systems has appointed Todd A Abbott as managing director of its South Asia operations. Cisco's South Asia operations comprise two units, Asia South and emerging Markets operations. Abbott's appointment is part of an Asia-wide expansion that saw the setting up of a Greater Asia regional Headquarters in Singapore and four key Cisco operating units.

Commenting on his new role, Abbott said, "I recognise that each country under my charge has different characteristics. My challenge will be to ensure that the special requirements of customers in all of them are met. we have the resources to provide solutions tailored to the needs of a wide range of industries, from small and medium sized companies to the large enterprises, telecom companies and Internet service providers."
