Delhi firm barred from using Pepsi trademarkThe Delhi high court has barred a local company - Pepsi Corporation - and its employees from using the trademark of soft drink giant PepsiCo Inc. On a petition filed by Pepsi Foods Ltd, vacation judge Mukul Mudgal said, "Respondents are restrtained from holding out to the public that they are directly of indirectly connected with the plaintiff and further restrained from using the trademark Pepsi''.
BHEL bags NTPC deal
NTPC has decided to award Bharat Heavy Electricals the engineering contract for the Rs 3,600 crore Simhadri power project on a turnkey basis. A decision on the engineering, procurement and construction contract was taken at the NTPC's board meeting on June 19, corporation sources said. The corporation is likely to forward the name of EPC contractor to the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund of Japan for approval, sources said.
BHEL to develop Pondicherry plant
BHEL has bagged a Rs 100-crore order to develop a 32.5 mwpower plant in Pondicherry. The combined cycle gas based project to come up in Karaikal was awarded to BHEL by Pondicherry Power Corporation, a BHEL release said. The plant, to be commissioned in the current financial year, will be the first power project in Pondicherry.
CAG pulls up DD
Doordarshan is refusing to pay dues to the tune of Rs 36.13 crore to DoT as charges for using four satellite channels for eight to 16 years, a CAG report said. DoT failed to work out the final rent and guarantee for eight to 16 years for the eight channels dedicated to DD, whereas DoT was bound to fix the rates within one year.
NBC to revamp image
NBC, one of the biggest television channels, has decided to air six hours of original programming by National Geographic daily from July 1. Sources said that NBC's image will undergo a revamp with only four hours of NBC programmes and 14 hours of National Geographic re-run. The channel will also be renamed, sources added. The new channel will be launched as adigitally encrypted pay-channel.
