MUMBAI, June 25: Making hay while the world cup football sun shines is Coca-Cola India. As part of its worldwide association with France '98, the company has lined up a number of promotional events at popular night spots in the country. The venues which include pubs, coffee shops and video games parlours, have been given a football ambience and sections like the bar have been rechristened `halftime', the seating area has become the `bench' and the dance floor is the `penalty area'. As part of the promotion, Coca-Cola India has come up with innovative activities to capture the world cup spirit.
Games like `free kick' and `V/J cheerleader', where contestants have to score goals in a miniature goal ring, spin the ball on their finger or balance the ball on head and foot, have been devised as part of these activities.
The company has even given the most regularly ordered drinks a football twist. For instance a rum and Coke becomes a side throw, whisky and soda a penalty shot and a vodka and orange agolden goal, complete with a menu card called kick. Customers get free gifts like a Coke, T-shirts, beannie caps, and in case one has ordered a `football drink', complimentary snacks.
