United Western Bank net up 55% to Rs 34 crore

MUMBAI, June 26: United Western Bank has recorded a 55 per cent growth in its net profit for the year ended March 31, 1998, at Rs 33.53 crore. The board of directors have suggested a dividend of 25 per cent.The Satara-based private sector bank's deposits during the year have grown by 30.56 per cent to touch Rs 2,668 crore while advances have grown to Rs 1,370 crore, indicating a growth of 27.26 per cent. United Western claims to have crossed the priority sector credit target of 40 per cent and the export credit target of 12 per cent. The bank's net NPAs during 1997-98 have fallen considerably to 5.73 per cent against 8.86 per cent in the previous year. It has made an additional provision of 0.20 per cent on standard assets in line with prudent international banking practises. The bank's investments at the end of 1997-98 stood at Rs 931 crore.
