Mumbai, June 27: Groundnut oil continued its upward trend as it scaled new peak on the oil,oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil on the other hand ruled weak on news of rains in the producing centre.Groundnut oil up was by Rs 3 to Rs 490 per 10 kg amidst scattered arrivals coupled with shortage of ready stock. Arrivals from Gujarat region remained negligible during the week after introduction of voluntary price ceiling, it was learnt. Suplies from southern centres also remained restricted during the week. In Rajkot it was steady at Rs 680/685 per 15 kg.
Imported palm oil looked up by Rs 2 at Rs 377 per 10 kg exclusive of tax following news of recovery in the world market coupled with bull buying.
July delivery was quoted lower at Rs 374 per 10 kg. Castor oil settled a rupee lower at Rs 318/330 per 10 kg. Castorseed ready closed Rs 5 lower at Rs 1424/1430 per quintal in sympathy.
In the futures section castorseed September delivery moved in both ways and settled Rs 2.50 lower at Rs1428.50 per quintal on bull liquidation following weak Gujarat advices. Maturing June delivery was not traded today.
In Ahmedabad September delivery finished lower at Rs 1427 per quintal. Ready delivery slid to Rs 282/283 per 20 kg on continued arrivals, it was learnt.
Gold gains afresh
Gold extended gains on the bullion market here today. Silver was weak at the improved level.
Standard gold finished Rs 10 higher at Rs 4,290 per 10 gm. Gold .22 carat rose by same margin at Rs 3,970 per 10 gm. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) gained by Rs 100 at Rs 50,500 per piece. Seasonal demand was dull but poor supplies and uncertain movements in the stock prices prompted steady speculative support for gold, dealers said. In the overseas market gold ruled quiet at $293.70/793.75 per an ounce.
Silver .999 reacted by Rs 30 to Rs 7,925 per kg. In the ready section silver .916 dropped by Rs 30 to Rs 7,800 per kg. Industrial demand was dull while losses in the world market prompted profit taking.
In Delhisilver ready delivery slide to Rs 7,985/7,990 per kg. Forward delivery was quoted lower at Rs 7,945 per kg. In the international market the white metal eased by 6/7 cents to $5.32 per an ounce.
Milling wheat bullish
Bullish trend in milling wheat forged further ahead on the grains market. Elsewhere, a quietly steady condition prevailed due to limited activity.
Milling wheat price hardened by Rs 5 a quintal afresh in line with the trend in the producing centres and ruled at Rs 685-690. Wheat Saurashtra Lokvan at Rs 725-775, SW at Rs 900-1100, north Gujarat at Rs 690-750, MP 147 at Rs 900-1100 and Sarbati in the range of Rs 900-1400 were unchanged.
Rice SLO were placed at Rs 1000-1075, Gujarat-17 at Rs 1400-1600 and Permal superior at Rs 1100-1200.
Among pulses, tur Myanmar 1998 and 1997 continued to be traded at Rs 2021-2025 and at Rs 1950 respectively. Maynmar urad were on offer at Rs 1281 and moong at Rs 2000-2050.
Australian gram found sellers at Rs 1150-1175. Kabuli gram A-2 Mexicanfound sellers at Rs 3000-3100, Iranian at Rs 2500-2800, B-2 at Rs 2400-2500 and C-2 at Rs 1550-1600.
Green peas
USA and Canadian were on offer at Rs 1675-1700 and at Rs 1221-1225 respectively. Rajma chitra deshi at Rs 3000-3050, imported at Rs 2800-2900 and red rajma imported at Rs 2150 were maintained.
Cotton steady
Cotton market continued to display steady trend. Both demand and offerings were restricted.
Sanker ruled in the range of Rs 19,000-23,000 a candy spot. V-797 were placed at Rs 16,400-16,600, Morbi Wagad at Rs 16,000 and Kala-ginned at Rs 15,700-15,800.
Bengal Deshi were quoted at Rs 1630-1680, J-34 saw-ginned good average at Rs 2050-2150 and cart-selected at Rs 2200-2250.
Yarn dull
A dull condition continued on the yarn market. Viscose filament yarn bright cones first quality Century Rayon 150dn were traded at Rs 224, 120dn at Rs 245, 100dn at Rs 158 and 75dn at Rs 270 a kg. 120dn dull cone were mentioned at Rs 252. In the case of coarse deniers, 300dn wereplaced at Rs 166, 450dn at Rs 150 and 600dn at Rs 144.
Nylon Shreelon 15/1/0dn and 20/1/0dn continued to be on offer at Rs 265 and at Rs 231 respectively.
Polyester yarn grey first quality of medium-sized units 80dn rotoset were placed at Rs 85-86, weft at Rs 80-81, 150dn weft at Rs 66-67, warp at Rs 77-78, single rotoset at Rs 72-73 and doulbe rotoset at Rs 73-74.
Sugar improves
A better trend prevailed on the sugar market on buying support.
Gaining Rs 5 a quintal M-30 ruled at Rs 1480-1530 and S-30 at Rs 1465-1485 ex-godown. Ex-octroi M-30 were placed at Rs 1465-1475 and S-30 at Rs 1445-1455.
