MUMBAI, July 2: Nortel India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the US-based Northern Telecom (Nortel) has entered into an agreement with Geil Projects & Services (India) Ltd to market and service Nortel's complete portfolio of Norstar digital key telephone systems in the country.Geil Projects & Services (India) Ltd is a part of the National Telecom group (Natelco).
"Norstar delivers high voice, data and fax bandwidth to the desktop, and its modular, building-block design allows for easy expansion of the communications systems while meeting the corporates' business needs," Nortel (India) managing director Eric Foster said.
Norstar Integrated Communications System (ICS), serves more than 800,000 businesses and nine million people in over 80 countries, Foster said. Norstar has four system integral digital telephones with an integrated liquid crystal display (LCD) window to guide phone users, step by step, through the telephone's abundant business features and applications, he said. It also has the capabilityto offer a small call centre solution and desktop messaging, he added.
Geil develops and delivers turnkey solutions in the radio paging industry and has 80 per cent of India's radio paging infrastructure market and 25 per cent share of the pager market," Geil president and chief executive officer K Chandrasekaran said.
