Communications Inc merges with Genesis PR

Neeraj Saxena
New Delhi, July 4: Communications Inc has been merged with Genesis PR after about two years of existence as a separate public relations firm. Genesis is in the process of signing fresh retainership contracts with the existing clients of Communications Inc such as Travel House, the Eicher group and Eicher Consultancy Services. The five-member staff, headed by Micky Bharucha, too, has been absorbed into Genesis. Bharucha is likely to be designated as controller of operations in Genesis. The firm, floated by Genesis proprietor Prema Sagar in partnership with Micky Bharucha to handle competing clients within the same business category, had not succeeded in serving the purpose.

All that the agency had managed in the name of rival clients was the handling of the high-profile launch of Telco's small car and a similar project for Bajaj during the Auto Expo '98. Genesis' auto clients include Daewoo Motors and Volvo. "After much consideration we realised that while we were not servicing any significant number ofcompeting clients, our work could actually be complementary," said a Genesis executive.

Genesis was set up over five years ago. "In the last few years we had grown from servicing small- to medium- to large-size corporate clients. So we also wanted a sister outfit to serve smaller clients," said Prema Sagar.

But that did not happen as Communications Inc also managed to get only medium to large sized clients.
