Cement rates dip as export bags hit local market
Cement prices in Gujarat have crashed to an unprecedented low of around Rs 100 a bag as producers, unable to export through the cyclone-hit ports of Kandla, Pipavav and Porbandar, are turning to the local market to offload their consignments.

CBEC for uniform textile excise levy
Textile processors in Mumbai have been assured of positive response regarding the excise payments at the recently held meeting between DS Solanki, chairman, Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) and a delegation of Federation of Mumbai Textile Processors and Merchants. The CBEC chairman has assured that he will try to evolve a uniform procedure throughout the country.

Ninth Plan set to be cleared by August
The Ninth Plan is likely to be approved by the National Development Council by the end of August. The Planning Commission is working out an action plan based on the altered priorities of the government as stated in the national agenda of goverance and announced by prime minsiter Atal Bihari Vajpayee in his address to the nation on March 22, 1998.
