Z Hassan, a civil engineer belonging to the Central Engineering Service (1962 batch) has assumed the charge of secretary, Union ministry of water resources. Hassan was the chairman of the Central Water Commission.Hassan has held various senior positions like Member, Water Planning and Policy, Central Water Commission, and Director General, National Water Development Agency, which is engaged in the study of linking of river waters in the country.

S Ramachander is director, IFMR

Prof S Ramachander, who has till recently been Dean, Executive Education, has taken over as director, Institute of Financial Management & Research and Academy for Management Excellence. Prof Ramaswamy P Aiyar who steered the institute through its formative years, has retired but will stay on as advisor.

Ramachander brings to this job extensive experience in Senior Management, Teaching, Research and Consultancy, for the past three decades. He's a graduate of the first batchof IIM Ahmedabad (1966) and holds an international teacher's programme qualification from Harvard Business School (USA).

J Rao joins TCFC

Jaithirth Rao has joined the 20th Century Finance Corporation. He will shortly be inducted into the board to spearhead the strategic direction of the entire group.

Rao was earlier heading the operations of Citibank in India as its country head and chief executive. He has been with Citibank for the last 25 years.
