The centre will have the latest analytical instruments for testing polymers. The objectives of the centre will be to monitor the polymer conversion industry vis-a-vis market needs, monitor performance of conventional products, plan upgradation with respect to consumer needs, offer new product formulations out of in-house polymer grades, develop customer-friendly products by facilitating the latest design and provide conversion and testing facilities.

Sources said the centre would help promote the use of plastics in the eastern region. It will install a computerised modelling system, which will help in simulations, to be made available to end-users ofplastics.
