Haldia Petrochem to set up polymer research centre

CALCUTTA, July 10: Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd is setting up an Application Research & Development Centre (ARDC) at Salt Lake near Calcutta with an investment of Rs 5 crore. According to company sources, the centre will start work from December this year. It will be the only centre in eastern India to offer ultra-modern processing and analytical facilities.The centre will have the latest analytical instruments for testing polymers. The objectives of the centre will be to monitor the polymer conversion industry vis-a-vis market needs, monitor performance of conventional products, plan upgradation with respect to consumer needs, offer new product formulations out of in-house polymer grades, develop customer-friendly products by facilitating the latest design and provide conversion and testing facilities. Sources said the centre would help promote the use of plastics in the eastern region.
