New Delhi, July 11: The use of thermal sets supplied by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) have resulted in a 12 per cent increase in power generation in the country during the first quarter of 1998-99, as compared to the corresponding period last year.According to a release issued by Bhel, these sets, manufactured and supplied by it, have registered a generation of 60,237 million units during April-June 1998, against 57,811 million units in the first quarter of fiscal 1997-98.
In this period, the plant load factor (PLF) and operating availability (OA) of Bhel-built 500mw sets also went to 78 per cent and 91.4 per cent respectively, as against 74.7 per cent and 87.1 per cent registered during the same period last year.
As many as 17 Bhel built thermal units operating at Singrauli, Korba and Chandanpur super thermal power stations and Vijaywada and Dadri thermal power stations ran uninterrupted for all the 91 days during April-June 1998, maintaining a track record of a PLF of over 80 per cent withoperating availability at 100 per cent, the release added.
