South-East Asia's economic slide hits garment export busines
Indian garment exporters are in a fix. Major buyers from the US and the European countries are exploiting the situation arising from currency devaluation in some of the neighbouring countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and Bangladesh. As the products from these countries work out to be cheaper than the Indian ones, buyers have started exercising their bargaining power much to the chagrin of Indian exporters. However, a majority of entrepreneurs feel that there is no need to panic -- it is only a phase.
Use proximity principle to satisfy customers
In all selling, when you wish to motivate customers, you first have to make contact with them and see things from their perspective. The proximity principle thus also explains why face-to-face communication is more powerful than a phone contact, which in turn is more influential than present-day electronic mail.
Finance as a management function
Raising finance requires initial decisions on the capital structure of the company. Financing demands a knowledge of the sources of funds and the advantages and pages of each source. Further decisions are then made on the most appropriate method of satisfying either short-term requirements to finance current trading, or medium and longer-term needs to provide funds for growth, capital investments and acquisitions.
