L'Oreal Professionnel unveils new hair colour: The salon division of L'Oreal, L'Oreal Professionnel Paris, has launched a new international hair colour exclusively for beauty parlours. "Diacolor" is an ammonia-free gel colour in a can, with the patented polymer Ionene-G. The hair colour covers 50 per cent gray hair, refreshes faded highlights, and can be applied in 15 minutes. Diacolor will be available across India in seven shades - Brown, Dark Brown, Red Mahogany, Mahogany, Burgundy, Red Plum, and Chesnut.Pendants from Sneha Collection: Dipriya has come out with the Sneha Collection, a collection of lightweight pendants in 22-carat gold. Dipriya, which is a supplier to jewellery houses, has launched the Sneha Collection for Raksha Bhandan. Floral themes and contemporary motifs in matt and glossy finishes are available in more than 100 designs. Each pendant is priced between Rs 750 and Rs 1,500. The Sneha Collection is available in Mumbai at Akbarallys, Asiatic, Archies, Chintamanis, ParagJewellers, and Javeraat. Dipriya will eventually market the collection nationally.
Godrej-GE traffic helpline: The Godrej-GE Traffic Helpline has been introduced by Godrej-GE Appliances in collaboration with the Mumbai traffic police and Comtech Systems. The helpline is operational between 0830 hours and 2100 hours every day. The information is updated on an hourly basis. Callers may receive information on traffic, flooded roads, train timetables, weather, and high/low tide timings. The number for the helpline is 5181717.
Planters Choice dry green peas to be marketed in Mumbai: The USA Dry Peas & Lentil Council and the Indian Phil Corporation Ltd have collaborated to bring "Planters Choice" dry green peas to Mumbai. The dry green peas are imported and sold in 200g consumer packs by Phil Corporation. They are high in protein, potassium, natural soluble fibre, low in sodium, and have no fat calories. The peas, which double in volume when soaked overnight, are well suited for diabetics, peoplein weight loss programmes and those with cardovascular diseases and colon cancer. Packages of Planters Choice dry green peas will bear the logo of the USA Dry Peas & Lentil Council.
Benetton opens fall/winter 1998 collections: International clothing company United Colors of Benetton on Friday launched its fall/winter 1998 lines in Mumbai. The fashion show, which took place at Mumbai's Fashion Bistro, unveiled the men's and ladies collections, as well as the 012 Collection for children, and Zerotondo for toddlers. The 012 collection offered seven themes - Military, Urban Boy, Urban Blue, Colors, London Street, Barbie, and Alaska. For toddlers six themes were shown - Eco, Urban Blue, Military, Susanna, Sport and Alaska.
Phil Systems offers range of new products: Phil Systems Ltd has recently introduced a number of new products in the market. The EP-1030 Photocopier has been developed for small volumes, can copy A4 size documents at the speed of 13 copies per minute, and is built withCS-Technologies including toner recycling and automatic density control. The SlidomaticAF 100 slide projector, with a built-in cooling fan and remote control, and Laser Bullet are products for imaging and presentation. Phil Systems has also brought out the Minolta Spad-502 Chlorophyll Meter, which is used to understand the condition of plants for agricultural research. There are also three new polaroid products to improve imaging: Polaroid Micro Cam SLR, Polaroid Macro 5 SLR, and Polaroid Gel Cam.

Zee TV is a 24-hour channel in the UK: The Hindi satellite channel Zee TV has become a 24-hour channel in the UK from the beginning of August 1998. The channel has been steadily expanding its telecast time and viewership into UK and Europe, and now reaches one million viewers. The Zee Network is the only south Asian television network that provides 24 hour entertainment in four continents viz Asia, Europe, South Africa, and North America.
Singapore is Asia's number one convention destination: For the fifteenth consecutive year, Singapore has been ranked Asia's number one convention destination. In a survey by the Union des Association Internationales (UAI), Singapore was also found to be the sixth most popular global meeting place after Paris, London, Vienna, Brussels and Geneva. In 1997, the city held 68 international meetings and a total of 138 conventions. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has been promoting the cityextensively, most recently with the GlobalMeet 2000 programme. GlobalMeet 2000 offers incentives to organisers booking events in Singapore until the year 2000.
Marriot International launches India operations: Marriot International has commenced operations in India with the opening of the Goa Marriot Resort this season. The Goa Marriot, run by General Manager Hans-Georg Rohrbein, is located along the Mandovi River. It has 217 king and queen sized rooms, all with fax and data-port connections, in-room safes, and balconies. There are several restaurants, a health club, casino, sports bar, and conference facilities capable of hosting up to 600 people. Marriot International operates in 54 countries and territories, and will open two hotels in Delhi, one each in Calcutta and Chennai, and a hotel/service apartment complex in Mumbai
MBL-RCG unveils new division: The research agency MBL-RCG, part of NFO Worldwide, has launched a new division, MBL Techno.Search. The division will research the areas ofinformation technology, telecommunications and business automation. MBL Techno.Search will have access to the expertise of Prognostiks - the IT company of NFO Worldwide - that will help determine the status of products in the market. MBL-RCG has a collaboration with the UK-based MBL Group Plc. The agency's clients include Hindustan Lever, TVS Suzuki, Citibank, Birla 3M, Smithkline Beecham, Marico, Colgate Palmolive, Godrej Group, Bayer, Nestle, General Motors, and Whirlpool.
