The scheme is a combination of savings bank account and term deposit and aimed at maximising the returns on the savings of the savings bank depositors.

Under the scheme, any balance beyond Rs 20,000 in saving bank account gets automatically converted into term deposit in units of Rs 1,000 and is held as term deposit for a term as specified by the depositor. This enables the depositor to earn higher returns on his surplus funds. The depositor can access these term deposits also by cheques as the system converts these term deposits into savings bank balance in case balance in SB account is insufficient to meet the cheques issued by him.
