Compulsory demat trading for FIs likely
SEBI is expected to make it mandatory for institutions to trade only in demat shares with regard to all companies which have signed up with the depository from December this year. The move, which is expected to come as a major boost to the depository movement, will see about 125 companies being added to the existing list of 110 companies which Sebi has shortlisted.
FIIs step up the gas; daily outflow at Rs 42 crore
Foreign investors seem to have intensified their selling presure on the bourses. Figures released by the National Stock Exchange show the net FII outflow for the day at Rs 42 crore. That is, although FIIs bought shares worth Rs 11.02 crore, they offloaded a phenomenal chunk of stocks worth Rs 53.55 crore.
Prices fall as FIIs take the GDR exit route
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have shifted their focus to the GDR market where they find it relatively more profitable and easier to exit from Indian shares. The result -- the fall in GDRs of some of the most actively traded shares have been sharper than the domestic ones.
