Gold prices hardened from the reduced level

Mumbai, Aug 14: Standard gold moved up by Rs 10 at Rs 4,210 and gold .22 carat edged up by same margin at Rs 3,895 per 10 gm. respectively. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) rose by Rs 100 at Rs 49,500 per piece. Stray festival buying influenced the rally while limited supplies and firm trend in dollar value followed by recovery in the overseas market kept offerings restricted. In the global market gold climbed up from $282.75 to $285 per an ounce.

Silver .999 finished Rs 5 lower at Rs 7,900 per kg amidst sluggish demand coupled with brisk overseas inflow. Silver .916 on the other hand recovered by Rs 15 at Rs 7,790 per kg due to shortage of ready stock. In the global market the white metal placed higher from $5.09 to $5.15 per an ounce.

Groundnut oil continued its uptrend as prices scaled new peak level on the oil,oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil advanced on the back of firm overseas advices.

Groundnut oil rose by Rs 2 at Rs 545 per 10 kg on steady festival demand. Poor supplies andlack of ready stock kept offerings at a low ebb. Imported palm oil maintained at the improved level of Rs 358 per 10 kg exclusive of tax during the day. But in the kerb deal, prices placed higher at Rs 360/361 per 10 kg. In the global market palm oil placed higher from $682.50 to $690 per tonne for the nearby delivery and forward deliveries were quoted at $675/650 per tonne.

Castor oil shot up by Rs 12 at Rs 430/442 per 10 kg following hectic overseas buying interest which triggered renewed covering by local shippers. Castorseed ready jumped up by Rs 58 at Rs 1,962/1968 per quintal. In Rotterdum castor oil gained $100 to $1200 per tonne it was learnt.

In the futures section castorseed December delivery extended gains from Rs 1694 to Rs 1737 per quintal as fresh bull buying triggered rally while bears were covering short position. Bullish Gujarat advices also attributed to the upsurge. Maturing September delivery was not traded today.

In Gujarat castorseed spot delivery placed higher at Rs 374/375 per20 kg. Castor oil was changed hands at Rs 414/415 per 10 kg. Arrivals of castorseed in the Gujarat region dropped to 2000 bags as against 3000 bags on Thursday, it was learnt.
