August 17: Pivotals declined sharply on heavy selling pressure by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) here today. The sell value from FIIs totalled Rs 1546.80 lakh while the support from the domestic funds/institutions totalled Rs 1256.08 lakhs, the NSE release said.Total traded value during the day was Rs 988.83 crores from 358.56 lakh shares and in 1,40,033 trades. Debentures traded value was Rs 8.35 lakhs.Reflecting the activity, s&P Cnx nifty opened at 864.35 and closed at 855.55, showing a loss of 9.55 over the previous close of 864.10. Cnx nifty junior opened at 1459.10 and closed at 1445.85, with a net loss of 13.00 over the previous close of 1458.85. S&P Cnx defty opened at 693.75 and closed at 685.70, a decline of 8.65 points from the previous close of 604.35. S&P Cnx 500 opened at 590.87 and closed at 583.99, showing a fall of 6.67 points from the last close of 583.99. Cnx midcap 200 opened at 515.99 and closed at 508.85, with a fall of 6.95 points from thelast close of 515.80.
The exchange witnessed 327 scrips advance, 557 scrips decline and 85 scrips remain unchanged while 31 securities had hit their price bands today, the NSE said.
