3M Innovation Centre in Bangalore: Birla 3M is setting up a 3M Innovation Centre at the electronics city, Bangalore. The centre will showcase 3M products and allow customers to interact with technologies and solutions. The centre will also perform periodical audits on quality of its products, and will recommend and redesign products when necessary. Birla 3M has introduced more than 2,000 products in India.Zotter range of pens launched: Today's Writing Products Ltd has brought out Zotter -- a range of pens in metallic and foil bodies. The German ink in the pens guarantee 3,000 meters of non-smudge writing. The pens are priced between Rs 9 and Rs 14. Special offerings are the Zotter Supreme Range, Classic Zotter, Designer Zotter, Twisty Zotter Range and the Classic Gift Set.
Trims & Frills for the fashion industry: Textile information group Tecoya has organised a three-day event for the fashion industry. Trims & Frills will be held from September 23 to 25 in Mumbai. More than 34 manufacturers of thread, lace, interlinings, buttons, zips, labels, fabric, mannequins, sewing machines and publications will be hosted. Trims & Frills is the first in a series of events that Tecoya plans to organise for the industry.
Bachchans promote Eye Bank cause: Cine couple Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan have pledged their eyes in a 60 second television message "The Heartbeat of Life". The non-profit Eye Bank Association hopes to increase awareness about eye donation through the involvement of film stars. Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai was the first to lend her celebrity status to promote the cause.
Independence day celebrations: Nokia has marked the 51st year of independence with a special Indian edition of the recently-launched Nokia 5110 phone. The special edition phone rings with the tune of Pandit Ravi Shankar's "Saare Jahaan Se Achhaa." Meanwhile, Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad celebrated independence day with the opening of its 57th papad branch in India. Lijjat is co-owned by about 40,000 women across the country and supports rural development by providing self-employment for women. Total turnover is Rs 230 crore, including exports of Rs 7.5 crore.
Lifestyle show: Etcetera Lifestyle Ltd will host the Etcetera Lifestyle Show at Nehru Centre in Worli, Mumbai, from August 21 to 23. The show will provide students and professionals a means to showcase the design industry, with a group of handpicked exhibitors. It will also serve as a meeting point for potential customers and retailers. The company has collaborated with `The Indian Architect and Builder' journal to present awards to two interior designers -- Noshir Talati for the professional category and Shyam Ahuja for the trade category. The journal will also be hosting free seminars on August 22.
