FedEx opens 3 service centres in Mumbai

Our Infrastructure Bureau
MUMBAI, Aug 22: The $13.3-billion Federal Express (FedEx) has opened three service centres in the city on Friday. These world service centres, located at Nariman Point, Prabhadevi and Juhu, have been set up as part of FedEx's strategy of getting closer to customers and providing value-added, innovative services, company managing director (operations) Indian subcontinent Arun Kumar said.

The centres add to the company's large worldwide network of drop-off locations that will help us get closer to our customers where they live, work and shop, he said. The `hold at FedEx location' service meets the needs of customers, who require flexibility in their schedule.

"This service is particularly useful for frequent business travellers, who do not have an office in every location where they can receive packages. These customers can specify a particular world service centre location, at which they, can pick-up their packages at their convenience," Arun Kumaradded.

According to Kumar, the FedEx world servicecentres enable customers to stretch their business day as they can pick up their packages before the usual delivery time and can drop packages off after the last scheduled pick-up. "In a world where time is scarce, this feature is very helpful for most businesses," he said.

The service centres will also provide package tracking facility, he added. According to the company, the centre at Juhu will be open from 0830 hours to 2200 hours, six days a week. The Nariman Point centre will be open from 0930 hours to 2030 hours. To meet the business needs of customers, the Prabhadevi centre will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

FedEx, a subsidiary of FDX Corp, transports more than three million items to 211 countries each working day. The company has 615 aircraft and 40,900 vehicles in its integrated global network.
