Dow snaps slide in record rise
Wall Street snapped back on Tuesday from Monday's free-fall with a rally reminiscent of the bull market's most resilient performances. But debate raged over whether the gains presaged an end to the global markets slide, and to be sure, outside the United States the picture was mixed.
Asian investors cheer Wall Street rebound with big gains
Ailing Asian stock markets rallied on Wednesday as investors momentarily pushed aside daunting economic worries and cheered Wall Street's strong rebound from a spectacular rout. Hong Kong led regional bourses in applauding the Dow Jones index's second-largest point gain in history, with share prices soaring 4.5% in morning trade.
NSE includes Infosys, NIIT in Nifty
Standard & Poor's has effected the first changes in indices to which it has licensed its name. The NSE-50 index popularly called the Nifty (now S&P CNX Nifty) will finally see a presence of software stocks with Infosys and NIIT having been included. The changes will come into effect from October 7.
