Mumbai, September 3: Groundnut oil eased further on the oil,oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil on the other hand extended gains as prices scaled new peak levels.Groundnut oil declined by Rs 10 to Rs 565 per 10 kg amidst demand resistance as continued inflow prompted unloading by stockists and millers, it was said. In Rajkot however prices recovered from Rs 800 to Rs 820/825 per 15 kg.
Imported palm oil maintained at Rs 372 per 10 kg exclusive of tax during the day but in kerb deal prices looked up at Rs 375/376 per 10 kg on news of bullish overseas advices. In the global market palm oil climbed by $10/15 to $725 per tonne. Forward deliveries were placed at $702.50/672.50 per tonne.Castor oil shot up by Rs 28 to Rs 545/557 per 10 kg owing to negligible supplies at the fag end of the season coupled with fresh covering by shippers. In Rotterdum, castor oil soared by $50 to $1250 per tonne.
Castorseed ready jumped from Rs 2,380/2,386 to Rs 2,514/2.520 per quintal in sympathy.
In thefutures section castorseed December delivery gained by Rs 30 to Rs 1,928 per quintal on renewed bull buying in the official session while in kerb deal, it was quoted higher at Rs 1,970/1,975 per quintal, floor sources said.
In the Gujarat region castorseed spot delivery ruled firm at Rs 500 per 20 kg. Castor oil was placed at Rs 535 per 10 kg due to acute shortage of ready stock coupled with continued enquiries by millers and shippers, it was learnt.
Sugar subdued
A dull-to-subdued condition was in evidence on the sugar market following sluggish offtake.
M-30 were placed at Rs 1435-1505 and S-30 at Rs 1415-1440 a quintal ex-godown. Ex-octroi checkpost, the price eased by Rs 5 as M-30 were on offer at Rs 1405-1420 and S-30 at Rs 1385-1400.
In tenders, M-30 at Rs 1365-1370 in Kolhapur line eased by Rs 5. S-30 were static at Rs 1350-1360.
Bullion suffers
Both the precious metals suffered setback at the improved level on the bullion market here today. Standard gold fell by Rs 25 to Rs4,105 per 10 gm. Gold .22 carat reacted by Rs 20 to Rs 3,800 per 10 gm. in sympathy. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) dropped by Rs 200 to Rs 48,200 per piece. Demand turned sluggish after recent upsurge while weak overseas advices prompted profit-taking. In the global market gold fell from $ 280.50/281 to $278.50/279 per ounce.
Silver .999 softened by Rs 60 to Rs 7,330 per kg. In the ready section silver .916 slipped by Rs 75 to Rs 7,210 per kg. Industrial and seasonal demand petered out at the higher level while brisk overseas supplies and sharp setback in the global market prompted profit-taking. Delhi market ruled weak. In the overseas market the white metal dropped from 2.84 to $2.79/2.80 per ounce.
Grains quiet
A quietly steady condition prevailed on the grains market as activity remained restricted.
Wheat milling were placed at Rs 660-665 a quintal. Saurashtra Lokvan wheat were traded at Rs 765-825, SW at Rs 900-1100 and north Gujarat at Rs 725-775. MP 147 and Sarbati ruled at Rs750-850 and at Rs 900-1300 respectively.
Rice Gujarat-17 were maintained at Rs 1500-1600. Permal FCI were on offer at Rs 850-950 while superior met with support at Rs 1150-1250.
Among pulses, green peas USA were quoted at Rs 1600-1650 and Canadian at Rs 1071-1081. White peas Canadian were on offer at Rs 1150 while September/October shipments were on placed at Rs 925.
Cotton lacklustre
In lacklustre trading prices hovered around the previous day's levels on the cotton market.
V-797 were placed at Rs 15,500-15,800, Morbi wagad at Rs 15,100-15,200 and kala ginned at Rs 14,500-14,600 a candy spot. Sanker ruled in the range of Rs 18,500-22,000.
In Punjab zone, ready Bengal deshi saw-ginned were placed at Rs 1620-1640 a maund. J-34 saw-ginned good average at Rs 1800-1850 and cart-selected at Rs 1920-2040 were unchanged.
In forward, new crop Bengal deshi roller-ginned October were placed in the range of Rs 1350-1380 and November at Rs 1310-1335. J-34 saw-ginned good average Haryanan October andNovember were mentioned at Rs 1800-1810 and at Rs 1750-1760 respectively.
Yarn dull
Trading continued to be a tame affair on the yarn market. Prices ruled quietly steady.
Viscose filament yarn bright cones first quality Century Rayon 150dn ruled at Rs 224, 120dn at Rs 245, 100dn at Rs 256 and 75dn at Rs 269 a kg.
Nylon yarn Shreelon 15/1/0dn and 20/1/0dn found sellers at Rs 265 and at Rs 231 respectively.
