Naidu's Andhra pips state to post; bags elite business-school project
Andhra Pradesh and a consortium of local business houses on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding to set up the much-touted Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. The school's avowed aim is to set up a world-class institution that will throw up potential business leaders.
Central bank suasion pays off; clutch of states agree to raise funds
The Reserve Bank of India's plan to shift the state governments' borrowing programme from a fixed coupon-rate system to auctions is likely to see the light of the day. A few state governments have, in principle, agreed to raise funds at market-determined rates through auctions. The indication was given at a recent meeting of central bank officials with state finance secretaries.
Reliance thinks big, to build southern ports
Reliance Industries (RIL) is scouting about for locations to set up ports combined with liquefied natural gas (LNG)-based mega power plants. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are being considered for the purpose. The estimated cost of such projects is in the region of Rs 16,000 crore ($4 billion).
