In a press statement, INS president Vijay Darda has stated that Sarita is a well-known periodical and a member-publication of the INS. He expressed grave concern at the arbitrary and high-handed manner in which the Rajpura police have proceeded against its editor, Vishwa Nath for an article published in the May 15 issue.

Darda said, "INS is committed to upholding the freedom of press which is guaranteed under the Constitution of India. Any such arbitrary action relating to contents of an article published in a reputed journal, deserves to be condemned as it is militates against the preservation of the freedom of the press in the country. While the law must take its course, the INS condemns all such transgressions on the part of authorities against journalists, publishers and publications."
