Chandigarh, Sept 16: National Panasonic India Ltd has launched nine television and five audio systems with digital functioning in Chandigarh for Punjab territory, simultaneously with other territories across the country.
Company deputy managing director Y Kaburagi and Matsushita Television & Audio India Ltd financial director and board member Seiichi Kadano said the range includes three series of `Digital Sophia' models, three models of `New Sophia' and three of `Elegance Series.' The five audio systems consist of four from the AK series and minicompo category including AK-25, the biggest output power of 2,500 watts with dolby prologic and portable fashion CD of 140 watts with digital synthesised tuner.
Kaburagbi said the audio visual industry has a great potential as it was shifting from analog to digital. The television will evolve from being a simple home entertainment system into a useful tool that receives digital and data broadcast services and serve as a gateway for interactive communication.
Ifthe Indian government decides to adopt digital broadcasting of satellite or terrestrial or cable, the Panasonic company will be ready to introduce the real digital products which Matsushita has introduced in the USA, Europe and Japan, he said.
Matsushita Electric had become the first company in the world to achieve the milestone of 200 million TV sets global cumulative production last month, he said.
Ruling out any threat from Akai, he said, Panasonic will soon become the global leader in the digital products segment. National Panasonic India Ltd posted a turnover of about Rs 160 crore during the last financial year. He conceded that in its three years of existence in the country, the company had made losses.
