Millowners' body urges Maharashtra government to lift ban on land sale
The Millowners' Association (MoA) has, in a fresh appeal, called upon the Maharashtra government to clear the redevelopment proposals submitted by certain private and National Textile Corporation (NTC)-run mills. MoA has demanded that textile mills be treated at par with other industries.
Licences for three local-area banks withheld
The Reserve Bank of India has withheld the necessary licences from the three promoters who had received in-principle approvals to commence local-area banking operations. These promoters are making efforts to comply with the terms and conditions and are in the process of registering the companies.
Bengal minister calls for uniform sops for industry across states
West Bengal industry minister Bidyut Ganguly has urged all the states to develop a uniform system of incentives for the industry. Ganguly has also urged the Central government to offer incentives to industry.
