Crisil draws up methodology for credit rating of municipal bodies
A methodology for credit rating of municipal entities has been prepared by Crisil after an in-depth study of such entities in India and abroad. This was used by Crisil to award a rating to the first municipal bond in the country floated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. This was followed by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and the Bangalore Municipal Corporation.

Autonomy package to be linked to NPAs: Jalan
The Reserve Bank of India governor Bimal Jalan on Monday said the autonomy package for banks will be linked to their ability to address the issue of the burgeoning non-performing assets (NPAs). He further pointed out that the NPAs of the banking system continue to be a matter of grave concern for all of us.

Centre may bar uplinking facility for foreign channels
The government may not allow foreign satellite channels to set up earth stations for providing uplinking facilities from the country. It will allow companies without any interest in broadcasting to set up the facility. The union information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry has decided to allow foreign participation up to 74% in uplinking infrastructure in the second phase of its broadcasting policy.
