Pune, Sept 22: A 12-member action committee has been formed by all the Chambers of Commerce and Associations in the state. The committee, which will hold its first meeting in Mumbai on October 5, will submit a memorandum to the deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde protesting the stiff power tariff hike to come into force from November 1.The committee will formulate a joint course of action on common problems faced by trade and industry. The second meeting of all the chambers held here recently, took up the issues of the stiff power hike announced by the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) as well as pending issues like sales tax and octroi. Members were unanimous that government should hold discussions with industry and trade bodies before making changes that affect them.
The committee comprises a representative each from the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Indian Merchants Chamber, both Mumbai-based organisations. The other organisations which represent the regions: Thane SmallScale Industries Association, Thane Belapur Industries Association
