Hyundai to think 'big' after Santro and Accent
Hyundai Motor India (HMI) is exploring the option of introducing a large car for India after the Santro and mid-size Accent. The Santro has just been launched and the successor to the Accent makes its debut towards the end of 1999. The large car being planned will follow subsequently some time after 2000. The company has also indicated that it will not confine production to cars alone, but will also consider other vehicles.

P&G to unify Vicks products into single mega-brand
The three prongs of Vicks, Procter & Gamble (P&G's) successful brand, are being unified by the domestic subsidiary of the US-based multinational giant under a single mega-brand, Vicks. The move stresses on creating a "mega-brand" status of Vicks that provides cough and colds relief through different sub-brands.

FIs to discuss steel firms' bailout package as debts top Rs 20,000 cr
The total liability of the private sector steel companies with the institutions which is estimated to be over Rs 20,000 crore has forced the institutions to call an emergency meeting in Mumbai on Saturday to discuss a bailout package. Among the other major borrowers are Lloyds Steel with Rs 1171.25 crore, Malvika Steel (Rs 934.99 crore), Usha Ispat (Rs 433.33 crore) and Rajinder Steel (Rs 403.99 crore).

SBI bridge funds only for AAA rated companies
State Bank of India has decided to provide bridge loans and interim finance against public issues of only AAA-rated corporates for a maximum period of four months. The interest rate levied will be at the cash credit rate applicable to the borrower. The bank will obtain first or second charge on the assets to be acquired as appropriate, in addition to the personal or corporate guarantee of the promoters.
