"Rotating" venture capital fund for IT sector awaits plan panel okay
The Planning Commission is considering a proposal for a novel Rs 1000 crore "rotating" venture capital fund which aims at generating 10,000 entrepreneurs in the next ten years in the export-oriented software sector. The move is in line with the BJP-led government's intiative to make India an IT superpower by 2007.
Cyber bill by next session
The Government will introduce the much-awaited Information Technology Bill aimed at checking computer crimes and legalising electronic transactions in the winter session of Parliament. Centre may allow debt-recovery panels to use private agencies
Faced with the burgeoning non-performing assets (NPAs) in the banking sector, the Centre is planning to strengthen the recovery process by allowing debt-recovery tribunals (DRTs) to appoint professional debt-recovery agencies. The proposal will become effective after suitable amendments are made to Recovery of Debt due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act 1993.
