Panel moots repeal of 1,300 central administrative laws
The commission on review of administrative laws has suggested repealing of as many as 1,300 central laws out of a total of 2,500 laws currently in force. In addition, the commission made a case for changes in the important statutes covering a wide spectrum of economic activities. These laws relate to company law, non-banking finance companies (NBFCs), foreign investment, taxation, industry, export-import, sick companies, urban development, labour, drug policy and environment.
Major policy decision to attract FDIs in telecom sector on cards
Union communications minister Sushma Swaraj has announced that the country would come out with major policy decisions within three months to attract foreign investments in the telecom sector, even as she maintained that the Indo-US joint ventures were not hit by sanctions. The union government has taken initiatives to reinforce foreign investors confidence in the country as a favourite destination in the post sanctions era and many more are on the anvil, she said.
39 drug formulations prices up; 24 packs become cheaper
Of the 71 formulation packs of which the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) had revised prices on September 28, thirty nine formulation-pack prices have been revised upwards. The 39 packs have become costlier by 0.04 per cent and 50.6 per cent, stated a news release issued by the union ministry of chemicals and fertilisers here on Wednesday.
