Philippines copper output down

The copper cathode and anode output of the Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corp (PASAR) dropped to 76,075 tonnes in the first half of the year compared with the year-earlier 85,370, the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines said last week. "It's because of the shutdown in PASAR's smelter in mid-May to June for regular maintenance ," an industry source privy to PASAR's operations said.Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
