Hey, I don't know where and how people are getting the idea that I have a lot of money or am money-savvy. Who tells you all this? Even this studio belongs to my father. I'm a total spendthrift with no cares for money.

Amala, my wife, is also not interested in money. I would be happy living as a monk somewhere. No Armani suits or Cartier watches for me.

We are really into scuba and deep-sea diving. Maldives is very special to us. Seychelles is absolutely beautiful, but I don't think Mauritius is so hot--it is flat land all over.

My son's future will be at a level that's basically comfortable. I don't want to earn his money for him--neither did my father do that (for me). I would like him to earn his own respect.I wouldn't doanything and everything for money.

Although money is definitely a necessity, I just want to live comfortably--obviously everyone has different ideas on that. I do have a little real estate, but I'm really bad at this. A few years ago I bought some land thinking that it was a good investment. However, since it was really all jungle, no one shared my views. Now, thanks to our Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's plan of building a H-Tec city at this place, the jungle has become prime real estate. So I stand vindicated.

Basically, I only know films. I pump everything back into this stream. Earlier, yes, I needed more money to be able to make films, but now it is not my priority.

After Shiva, which did quite well in the Hindi circuit, I refused a lot of offers, as I did not want to lose out on what I get in the South. Let's face it, I won't get roles like I do here--the cream of the lot. And these rumours and gossip... Amala does get upset, but it is more like ``why do they do this'' (write like this)than being upset with me.

I don't have any quirks (that money can satisfy). I do like cars, but not that I buy a new one every six months. And I don't like jewellery either--I just wear a one-dollar coin fashioned into an ear stud on one ear. But yes, I do like spending on my house.

Charity? Yeah, I contribute to my wife's charity (Blue Cross) because the municipal people don't do their work. She looks after bears, parrots, dogs, cats, lions, tigers--you name it!

Listen, money is not going to make a beautiful life. Other things (Amala!) make me happy. If you get obsessed with money, it will curtail the enjoyment of life. After all, you may have a great house, but it won't be beautiful unless the people living in it make it so.
