Precious metals decline; groundnut oil firms 

 
Mumbai, Oct. 15: Both the precious metals reacted on the bullion market.

Standard gold fell by Rs 10 to Rs 4,330 per 10 gm. Gold.22 carat eased by Rs 10 to Rs 4,005 per 10 gm. Festival demand for gold was lower than expected, while subdued trend in the global prices and slide in dollar value against rupee kept the yellow metal weak. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) held at Rs 50,900 amidst limited trading. Late evening, however, in the kerb deal prices quoted lower at Rs 50,700 per piece. In the overseas market, gold ruled weak at $296.35 per an ounce.

Silver.999 declined by Rs 55 at Rs 7,330 per kg. Silver.916 dropped by Rs 85 to Rs 7,200 per kg. Seasonal and industrial buyers were stayed away from the falling market, while weak Delhi advices and continued overseas supplies put pressure on the prices. Daily inflow of silver picked up to 1500/2000 kg in the city market. In the global market, silver recovered from $4.80 to $4.85 per an ounce.

Oil and oilseeds:

G'nut oil up Groundnut oillifted up on the back of festival demand on the oil,oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil also extended recovery.

Groundnut oil looked up by Rs 5 to Rs 630 per 10 kg on diwali demand coupled with tight supplies. In Rajkot prices slide to Rs 795/800 per 15 kg.

Imported palm oil closed a rupee higher at Rs 385 per 10 kg exclusive of tax on the back of firm overseas advices. In the global market palm oil rose to $705 per tonne while long deliveries were available at $690/670 per tonne.

Castor oil shot up by Rs 15 to Rs 445/457 per 10 kg as delay in new crop supplies prompted fresh covering by shippers. Castorseed ready also jumped up by Rs 72 to Rs 2034/2040 per quintal in sympathy.

In the futures section, castorseed December delivery gained by Rs 30 to Rs 1720 per quintal on account of unseasonal rain and fear of crop loss in the southern India.

In Ahmedabad, December delivery spurted smartly and crossed Rs 1800 mark to close at Rs 1805 per quintal. In Gujarat region, castorseed readydelivery quoted at Rs 405 per 20 kg. Castor oil climbed to Rs 445 per 10 kg.
