Bhave seeks government help to bring PSUs within demat fold
The National Securities Depository (NSDL) chief CB Bhave has urged the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to take up with the government, the failure of several key public sector units to join the depository process. It has come to light that some investors including Unit Trust of India (UTI) have already written to Sebi asking the regulator to direct companies to provide them with the demat option by signing up with the depository.

Derivatives certification programme to be thrown open to the public
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has decided to throw open its certification programme for derivatives to the public from October 19. Named NSE's Certification for Financial Markets (NCFM) the course was initially started on July 18 and was till now open only for the market intermediaries.

Arbitrageurs are keen to jump on to the OTCEI bandwagon
Broking outfits active at the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange are keen to jump into the OTCEI system to reap the benefits of arbitrage. OTCEI managing director Joseph Bosco confirmed that several top brokers have informed the exchange of their decision to trade on the bourse.
