NEW DELHI, Oct 17: The union finance minister Yashwant Sinha is to inaugurate Infranet '98 conference-cum-exposition on infrastructure development from October 22 to October 24 at Hotel Taj Palace. The three-day mega event will also feature eminent personalities Chandrababu Naidu, Som Nath Chatterjee, Rakesh Mohan, Deepak Parekh, Ravi Parthsarathy, Ajit Gulabchand and Deepak Dasgupta.The event will primarily focus on surface transport including roads, bridges, highways, ports and airports, urban infrastructure like housing waste, management systems, drainage, water supply, industrial estates and mixed use townships.
During the inaugural session of the three-day conference two CII reports, "Issues facing India's infrastructure development"- CII-Price Waterhouse Coppers study" and "Industrial Parks: catalysts for state level industrialisation"- CII-Feedback HSS integrated study would be presented.
Another highlight of Infranet '98 is the participation of state governments of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana,Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and union territory of Chandigarh.
Private organisations to participate in the event would include, L&T, Mahindra Industrial Parks Ltd, KPMG, HUDCO, IDFC, ICICI, Patel Roadways, CARE, Sulabh International, Price Waterhouse and Feedback Ventures Pvt Ltd. The main event sponsors of Infranet are, IDFC, L&T and Government of Punjab. The principal co-sponsors are, Hindustan Construction Co., HSIDC, HUDCO, RIICO and the Steel Authority of India Ltd.
