Money-supply growth surpasses projections
The money supply (M3) growth in the first half of the current fiscal has overshot the projected trajectory of 15-15.5% by a wide margin to be pegged at 19.3%. The spurt has been mainly because of the inflow of Rs 17,945 crore into the system on account of the Resurgent India Bond (RIB) proceeds.
EREB anxious as other SEBs cut demand
The Eastern Regional Electricity Board has noted with concern that the state electricity boards of Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have reduced their demand for power from the eastern region because of quality problems.
Finance minister to inaugurate Infranet '98
The Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha is to inaugurate Infranet '98 conference-cum-exposition on infrastructure development from October 22 to October 24 at Hotel Taj Palace. The event will primarily focus on surface transport.
