Brussels, Oct 23: The European Union's sugar management panel raised the weekly import duty on cane molasses to 0.62 Ecus per 100 kg from 0.61 Ecus last week, a member state official said.This was calculated using an unchanged base duty of 0.38 Ecus plus a special safeguard tariff of 0.24 Ecus, the official said. The cif reference price for cane imports was left unchanged at 6.34 Ecus per 100 kg while the cif price for beet imports was edged lower to 7.60 Ecus per 100 kg from 7.64 Ecus previously.
The situation for beet imports was otherwise unchanged from the week before. The ordinary tariff of 0.38 Ecus continued to apply together with a special safeguard duty of zero.
