New Delhi, Nov 4: Sica Breweries, the Pondicherry unit of Shaw Wallace & Company (SWC), has received the ISO 9002 accreditation. This makes it the first brewery in the country to receive an ISO certification.The ISO certification has been given by the Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI), the world rewoned certification agency.
"This certification will help the company in capitalising on the expanding market for Indian alcoholic beverages outside the country," SWC managing director Ravi Jain said in a statement on Wednesday.
This is the first step by SWC towards upgrading all its seven breweries to ISO standards, he said.
As a measure to upgrade all its breweries to ISO standards by March 1999, the company has decided to implement stringent quality norms at all its facilities, a company release said.
